The Blog Guy Buy Guide: Batman: Arkham Knight's Collector's Editions

Hi guys!
This is my first, and, for the reason that I will likely not be quite so passionate about such a thing for a good long while, likely only Blog Guy Buy Guide that I will post on this blog, guys.

As can be read via the title, this one focuses yet again on the Batman: Arkham series, this time specifically on its upcoming finale, Batman: Arkham Knight. Which, because, y'know, WB Games, has a ton of extra purchasible content, not least of which include the collector's editions.

Thus far, there are three. Yes, three. It is indeed a bit of a problem and one I'm here to attempt to solve for you. Solve which one is worth your money over both others. True, without having them before me, true, but I'm here to see if I can do it before the game even releases! So you can buy it before the limited edition go out of stock.

*Cracks gauntlets* So, let's get started!

First off, let's see what each selection contains.
1) "The Serious Edition"
Price: $69.99
Contains: Game, 1st Appearance Batman skin, Limited Edition 25th Anniversary Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on a Serious Earth Hardcover comic book
2) "The Limited Edition"
Price: $99.99
Contains: Game, Steelbook, Art book, Batman: Arkham Knight #0 comic book, New 52 skin pack, and Batman: Hero of Gotham City statue
3) "The Batmobile Edition"
Price: $199.99
Contains: Game, Steelbook, Art book, Batman: Arkham Knight #0 comic book, New 52 skin pack, and TriForce transforming Batmobile statue

The likelihood stands, I'm sure, that since you're interested in a title focusing on Arkham Knight collector's editions, you have the interest to buy and money to spend for these, just which one is the question on your mind, which suggests you're willing to pay a decent amount, but you still want the best deal no matter the dedication. Alrighty, then, Mr./Mrs. Specific. Let's see what I can do for you.

The main reason people buy collector's editions is to recieve exclusive and or/early content. Both the Limited and Batmobile editions easily fulfill those needs, but let's take a look at our Serious friend:

THE SERIOUS EDITION:
It's certainly the cheapest of our selections, but that's due to the lack of interesting content. One of the main advertised deal-y deals is the Batman First Appearance skin, which is really kinda [BEEP]. The skin not only is available with all purchases from Amazon, but the Serious Edition is exclusive there, so 2/3 of what's included with the Serious Edition is free with all Amazon purchases. The best part of the bundle is easily its namesake, the graphic novel, which, with the normal $60 buying price for the game, is a 60% discount. That's a pretty damn good bargain, but with this being a fairly common book, and as a Batman fan of the Arkham series or the character in general, chances are you already own the comic in some form or another. So, what does this all average up to?
Casual buy if: You're interested in and do not own the graphic novel.
Casual don't buy if: You're looking for something a little more uncommon and exciting/You already own the graphic novel.

THE LIMITED EDITION:
Next up is the Limited Edition, the most similar option to those released for the past games, containing your essential artbook, statue, and DLC pack, along with a steelbook and a comic. As with the past games, an extra $40 for some average but still exciting additional content is far from steep. The artbook fulfills any interest in behind-the-scenes info and seems to be fairly thick from the pictures we've seen so far, the steelbook is perfect for those who want something special to hold their game in, the comic book is likely a good read (going by the rest of the Arkham comic releases, anyways), and the statue looks to be fairly high quality for a cheaper alternative to the edition they really want you to buy (guess). And, of course, no one cares too much about a skin pack, but they're always a nice edition, especially if you're not interested in the season pass. So, what does this all add up to?
Casual buy if: You're looking for the best deal of the pack.
Casual don't buy if: You can't live without a Batmobile statue or only the normal or Serious editions fit your price range.

THE BATMOBILE EDITION:
And finally, we have the Batmobile Edition. Personally, I probably would've ordered this edition right upon announcement, with those cool little Tri-Force transforming gimmicks, had the price not been  so [beep]ing high. I mean, I get that's it's a cool little collectible with an interesting feature, but an extra $140 is much too high for exactly the same package as the $100-less Limited Edition (save for its own statue), which means you're paying double it's price for a car to put on your shelf or desk, or likely drop and scratch playing with it. I'm probably one of the Batman: Arkham series' biggest fans, and would likely pay more than I should for the package (I've already bought the Season Pass), but this is just a bunch of bull[beep]. So, what does this all add up to?
Casual buy if: [Beep] it, you want a Batmobile.
Casual don't buy if: You don't want to waste half a PS4 on a gimmick that you've already seen enough in commercials anyways.

My order of recommendation:
1) The Limited Edition: A quite good deal. Fun extras to add to your buy.
2) The Serious Edition: One major positive. Not much, but if you want something a little cheaper.
3) The Batmobile Edition: Far too much money for one add-on that replaces something else.

So, I'm buying the Limited Edition.
If you haven't guessed.
It's my personal opinion. I find it the best deal. It's not too little for too much, or too commonplace for a guaranteed purchase.
Of course, if one or the other truly suits your fancy, don't let me dissuade you too far from what you really want. It's your money, do what you want with it, and I hope you enjoy the game when it releases!

Here're a couple more guide buys to try, if a few more specifics need to be narrowed down:
Which console to buy on?:
1) PC: Far better graphical output and on-the-go gaming.
2) PS4: Exclusive content's always a plus, even if it's for a limited period.
3) Xbox One: Uh...the disc's on the left of the case?
Pre-order bonus:
1) GameStop: It's Red Hood. Just...Red Hood.
2) Amazon: Guaranteed decent delivery and First Appearance Batman skin.
3) Wal-Mart: Prototype Batmobile skin.
4) Best Buy: WayneTech Booster Pack with early upgrades. Whoopee.

And...exit stage right. Thanks for reading this pretty fly singular try at the blog guy buy guide. I'll see you soon, and you may expect to see more Batman content in the future. Bye!
