The X-Files Watcher's Guide - Vol. 1 (Seasons 1-2)

Hello, Dimensionals!

I realize it's been a while since I last posted, but here I have something far too long but altogether far too useful for those who may be interested. Look, chances are if you're American and older than twenty, who've probably heard of or even seen an episode of the show called The X-Files

The X-Files is a science-fiction/fantasy television series that ran on the Fox network from 1993-2002, stacking up nine seasons, a spin-off, two feature films (including one that hit cinemas in 2008), and relative stardom for its two leads, David Duchovny's special agent Fox Mulder, and Gillian Anderson's special agent Dana Scully, altogether leading to the show's establishment as an American cult classic, with phrases such as "The truth is out there" now firmly within pop culture.

Do I seem like a master on the subject? Well, I am, but "the truth" is I'm only about two and a half seasons into it. I started watching it a long time ago, but the delays were heavy, and after a couple months I was only halfway through season one. But even while waiting I read about it, and got more excited, and more excited, and more excited until....201 Days of The X-Files was announced.

The show had been confirmed to come back as a Spring 2016 miniseries earlier this year, and to promote its return, the Fox network announced 201 Days of The X-Files, a marathon of every episode leading up until the day before the first new episode. Figuring it was my time to shine, I jumped on the bandwagon and began to watch...except not once a night. The true marathon had begun! So, time passed, and for each month passed I have a full season finished. I'm loving it! And, of course, due to my status in nerddom, I began documenting how I felt on every episode, in case someone else wanted an opinion/guideline/rulebookinwhicheverythingistrue, or if I ever wanted to rewatch the show and know which episodes to skip or look forward to.

And that's what this is! My own personal opinions on every episode of the show from now until its end. If you're looking to only watch the best ones, feel free! I've got you covered, with a ratings system and everything, every episode divided into four categories:
MUST-WATCHS: High points of the show that are required viewing upon watch/rewatch.
REALLY GOOD: Episodes that aren’t perfect, but are far from wastes of time.
WATCHABLE: Stories that aren’t bad, and could pretty/fairly easily be watched again.
EASY SKIPS: You’d only watch these for completion, or if my mini-synopsis interests you.

Each list will be completed with personal top three bests, top three worsts, and my personal favorite writer of the season. Episodes marked with a * are mythology episodes that are required to follow the major storyline aspects of the series. Episodes with a ^ have heavy connections that tie into alternate past/future episodes, and may introduce or end certain plot strands/characters.

If you want to learn about the writers, directors, airdates, or production codes (because geek) of an episode, here's Wikipedia to save your day: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_X-Files_episodes

The entirety of the show is midway through airing on Fox, but you can also watch it on iTunes, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, or a super expensive DVD box set.

One last thing, before we get started, here are the details for my future postings of The X-Files Watcher's Guide:

!!POSSIBLE MINOR SPOILERS MAY ABOUND. DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE A TOTAL TIGHTWAD!!

————————————————————————————————————————
SEASON 1:

01) “Pilot”*
Must-watch. A very good origin episode that introduces the characters really well, and provides a spooky and fitting start for the following nine seasons.

02) “Deep Throat”*
Really good. Not a ton happens, but what does is very good.

03) “Squeeze”^
Must-watch. The first monster-of-the-week episode is one of The X-Files’ creepiest and best, and really where the show takes off for interested audiences.

04) “Conduit”
Watchable. Some cool set pieces and a fairly interesting storyline make for a good episode but not one of the best. Aliens…? Or…no aliens?

05) “The Jersey Devil”
Easy skip. One of the more action focused early stories, but that’s all it has going for it. Dreary writing and a lame monster do not a good episode make.

06) “Shadows”
Watchable. The best of the four reincarnation stories of the first season, due to its writing by Glen Morgan and James Wong, but its one of their weaker attempts.

07) “Ghost in the Machine”
Watchable. Its very dated and it has a very cliched monster, but elsewhere its a fun story with some scary happenings that make for one of the higher watchables.

08) “Ice”
Must-watch. A very claustrophobic episode with clever writing, good humor, and heart-hammering happenings. I guess you could say it’s one of the series’ coolest.

09) “Space”
Easy skip. Full of weird, random stuff and stock footage, I don’t know a single person who likes this one. It was relaxing for me though, so it’s good if you can’t go to sleep.

10) “Fallen Angel”*
Must-watch. One of my favorite mythology episodes and supremely underrated. I’m unsure of why I love this one so much, but the mysterious aliens are rarely so interesting.

11) “Eve”
Must-watch. Definitely on the better side of the monster-of-the-weeks that’s iconic for good reasons. Fairly creepy and fun nevertheless.

12) “Fire”
Watchable. The villain and the locations are pretty awesome, but Mulder’s mustached girlfriend is decidedly less so.

13) “Beyond the Sea”^
Must-watch. One of my favorite episodes of the entire show that flips the series’ basis on its head. Creepy, funny, sad, what more could you want?

14) “Gender Bender”
Watchable. It may have an anti-climatic ending and some godawful TV-14 sex scenes, but it’s watchable for the most part.

15) “Lazarus”
Easy skip. The worst of the reincarnation episodes, despite it having a decent sounding plot. It’s just so boring, and I have no clue why.

16) “Young at Heart”
Really good. While it may have no connection to the rest of the show, despite it seeming important, it’s got some real cool, creepy aspects to it.

17) “E.B.E.”*
Really good. Classy mythology episode that experts in misdirection. It manages to make what seems uninteresting on paper quite interesting.

18) “Miracle Man”
Easy skip. Boring religious-fanatic who can heal people episode that feels like a waste of time watching it, with a boring mystery and guest characters.

19) “Shapes”
Watchable. Native American werewolf tale that sustains interest through its setting and guest characters, though some stereotypes and lack of mystery drag it down.

20) “Darkness Falls”
Really good. The natural companion to Ice. The characters aren’t the greatest, but the setting, monster, and just complete freakiness make it a good time watching.

21) “Tooms”^
Must-watch. An essential sequel to a great earlier episode that manages to be somehow creepier, funnier, and overall better than its predecessor.

22) “Born Again”
Easy skip. The most boring of the reincarnation episodes, due to its lack of interesting concepts. Everything here you’ve seen before and you’ll see it again.

23) “Roland”
Watchable. The second best of the reincarnation episodes (two in a row!) due to its…unique visuals and good acting. Still not great, though.

24) “The Erlenmeyer Flask”*
Must-watch. An incredible finale with excellent twists, enticing developments, and a brilliant culmination of the first season of The X-Files.

Three Favorite Episodes:
1) “Beyond the Sea”
2) “Tooms”
3) “The Erlenmeyer Flask”

Three Least Favorite Episodes:
1) “The Jersey Devil”
2) “Lazarus”

3) “Miracle Man”

————————————————————————————————————————
SEASON 2:

01) “Little Green Men”*
Must-watch. An excellent follow-up to the previous season with cool ties to the mythology aspects of the series. Plus, jungle landscape!

02) “The Host”^
Must-watch. Another one of the show’s iconic monsters. This is a quite creepy episode with a disgusting creature in looks and doings.

03) “Blood”
Really good. Interesting story done well. Psychological stories are always fun when there’s something there, and it’s got a very action-packed ending.

04) “Sleepless”^
Really good. Probably on the lesser side of really good, but it introduces a very important character and the story is good enough.

05) “Duane Barry”*
Must-watch. One of the simplest X-Files you’ll ever watch, it’s a great hostage situation story with Mulder and Scully.

06) “Ascension”*
Must-watch. A series of iconic set pieces with a crazy plot behind them. It also gets really damn sad near the end.

07) “3”
Easy skip. Unless you love badly-done vampires, WTF-type romances, and just confusing everything, press skip thrice. There is nothing redeeming.

08) “One Breath”*
Must-watch. One of the most personal episodes of the series, and a wonderful character episode. Not a ton happens, but what does is great.

09) “Firewalker”
Watchable. Unfortunately, you’ve seen this before again, but at least there’s space between this one and it’s previous, and it’s not dreadful.

10) “Red Museum”^
Watchable. The setting is cool and the story is interesting, but there’s also a lot of anti-climactic stuff and shenanigans. It’s not bad, but not great either.

11) “Excelsis Dei”
Watchable. Super creepy retirement home with ghost rapes and speedy old people is half interesting, half stupid. Plus, ghost rape? Really? Not cool.

12) “Aubrey”
Really good. One of the better mysteries of the season with a cool superpower and creepy happenings. Just needs a little more…I don’t know, something.

13) “Irresistible”^
Must-watch. Monsters don’t have to be supernatural to be f*cking creepy is the theme with this one. It’s fantastic, just be wary of some really disturbing stuff.

14) “Die Hand Die Verletz”
Must-watch. Flashes between darkly funny and darkly dark at a flick of the wrist. Mulder and Scully don’t really do much, but other than that, it’s great.

15) “Fresh Bones”
Watchable. Voodoo and unexplained deaths, what’s new? It’s kind of boring, but there’s some substance at it’s heart, and the ending’s good.

16) “Colony”*
Must-watch. Epic mythology story with a ton of weird shit, important developments, and a Terminator-esque bad guy. Yes!

17) “End Game”*
Must-watch. More mythology with even weirder shit, even sadder moments, and even some globetrotting! It feels like a mini-movie.

18) “Fearful Symmetry”
Easy skip. Dear god this one is lame. The mediocre opening was the best part. Hot tip, all the animal-related X-Files suck. Stay away!

19) “Død Kalm”
Watchable. The atmosphere and story are good, but a lame ending, characters, and some spliced boredom through the episode drag it down.

20) “Humbug”
Must-watch. My absolute favorite episode with a ton of great self-satire, a creepy monster, and epicly humorous circus freaks. Wish it was longer.

21) “The Calusari”
Easy skip. Super lame episode starring an annoying kid. The deaths are creepy, but the rest is unoriginal and boring. Next!

22) “F. Emasculata”
Watchable. Starts strong but loses a little luster later on in the episode. Still manages to maintain interest though and is a high watchable.

23) “Soft Light”
Really good. Decent story with an interesting X-File with a cool/eerie beginning and end make for a really good episode.

24) “Our Town”
Really good. Though the plot on paper feels familiar, this nummy X-Files still manages to be both creepy and surprisingly interesting.

25) “Anasazi”*
Must-watch. Fantastic mythology episode that seems like it progresses the plot further than the entire season has.

Three Favorite Episodes:
1) “Humbug”
2) “Anasazi”
3) “One Breath”

Three Least Favorite Episodes:
1) “Fearful Symmetry”
2) “3”
3) “The Calusari”

————————————————————————————————————————
Phew, and there we have it!

The real definition of "Too Much Reading" isn't it?
I hope all who read this now have interest in or have enjoyed the first two seasons of The X-Files, and look forward to future volumes coming soon!

The Blog Guy Buy Guide: Batman: Arkham Knight's Collector's Editions

Hi guys!
This is my first, and, for the reason that I will likely not be quite so passionate about such a thing for a good long while, likely only Blog Guy Buy Guide that I will post on this blog, guys.

As can be read via the title, this one focuses yet again on the Batman: Arkham series, this time specifically on its upcoming finale, Batman: Arkham Knight. Which, because, y'know, WB Games, has a ton of extra purchasible content, not least of which include the collector's editions.

Thus far, there are three. Yes, three. It is indeed a bit of a problem and one I'm here to attempt to solve for you. Solve which one is worth your money over both others. True, without having them before me, true, but I'm here to see if I can do it before the game even releases! So you can buy it before the limited edition go out of stock.

*Cracks gauntlets* So, let's get started!

First off, let's see what each selection contains.
1) "The Serious Edition"
Price: $69.99
Contains: Game, 1st Appearance Batman skin, Limited Edition 25th Anniversary Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on a Serious Earth Hardcover comic book
2) "The Limited Edition"
Price: $99.99
Contains: Game, Steelbook, Art book, Batman: Arkham Knight #0 comic book, New 52 skin pack, and Batman: Hero of Gotham City statue
3) "The Batmobile Edition"
Price: $199.99
Contains: Game, Steelbook, Art book, Batman: Arkham Knight #0 comic book, New 52 skin pack, and TriForce transforming Batmobile statue

The likelihood stands, I'm sure, that since you're interested in a title focusing on Arkham Knight collector's editions, you have the interest to buy and money to spend for these, just which one is the question on your mind, which suggests you're willing to pay a decent amount, but you still want the best deal no matter the dedication. Alrighty, then, Mr./Mrs. Specific. Let's see what I can do for you.

The main reason people buy collector's editions is to recieve exclusive and or/early content. Both the Limited and Batmobile editions easily fulfill those needs, but let's take a look at our Serious friend:

THE SERIOUS EDITION:
It's certainly the cheapest of our selections, but that's due to the lack of interesting content. One of the main advertised deal-y deals is the Batman First Appearance skin, which is really kinda [BEEP]. The skin not only is available with all purchases from Amazon, but the Serious Edition is exclusive there, so 2/3 of what's included with the Serious Edition is free with all Amazon purchases. The best part of the bundle is easily its namesake, the graphic novel, which, with the normal $60 buying price for the game, is a 60% discount. That's a pretty damn good bargain, but with this being a fairly common book, and as a Batman fan of the Arkham series or the character in general, chances are you already own the comic in some form or another. So, what does this all average up to?
Casual buy if: You're interested in and do not own the graphic novel.
Casual don't buy if: You're looking for something a little more uncommon and exciting/You already own the graphic novel.

THE LIMITED EDITION:
Next up is the Limited Edition, the most similar option to those released for the past games, containing your essential artbook, statue, and DLC pack, along with a steelbook and a comic. As with the past games, an extra $40 for some average but still exciting additional content is far from steep. The artbook fulfills any interest in behind-the-scenes info and seems to be fairly thick from the pictures we've seen so far, the steelbook is perfect for those who want something special to hold their game in, the comic book is likely a good read (going by the rest of the Arkham comic releases, anyways), and the statue looks to be fairly high quality for a cheaper alternative to the edition they really want you to buy (guess). And, of course, no one cares too much about a skin pack, but they're always a nice edition, especially if you're not interested in the season pass. So, what does this all add up to?
Casual buy if: You're looking for the best deal of the pack.
Casual don't buy if: You can't live without a Batmobile statue or only the normal or Serious editions fit your price range.

THE BATMOBILE EDITION:
And finally, we have the Batmobile Edition. Personally, I probably would've ordered this edition right upon announcement, with those cool little Tri-Force transforming gimmicks, had the price not been  so [beep]ing high. I mean, I get that's it's a cool little collectible with an interesting feature, but an extra $140 is much too high for exactly the same package as the $100-less Limited Edition (save for its own statue), which means you're paying double it's price for a car to put on your shelf or desk, or likely drop and scratch playing with it. I'm probably one of the Batman: Arkham series' biggest fans, and would likely pay more than I should for the package (I've already bought the Season Pass), but this is just a bunch of bull[beep]. So, what does this all add up to?
Casual buy if: [Beep] it, you want a Batmobile.
Casual don't buy if: You don't want to waste half a PS4 on a gimmick that you've already seen enough in commercials anyways.

My order of recommendation:
1) The Limited Edition: A quite good deal. Fun extras to add to your buy.
2) The Serious Edition: One major positive. Not much, but if you want something a little cheaper.
3) The Batmobile Edition: Far too much money for one add-on that replaces something else.

So, I'm buying the Limited Edition.
If you haven't guessed.
It's my personal opinion. I find it the best deal. It's not too little for too much, or too commonplace for a guaranteed purchase.
Of course, if one or the other truly suits your fancy, don't let me dissuade you too far from what you really want. It's your money, do what you want with it, and I hope you enjoy the game when it releases!

Here're a couple more guide buys to try, if a few more specifics need to be narrowed down:
Which console to buy on?:
1) PC: Far better graphical output and on-the-go gaming.
2) PS4: Exclusive content's always a plus, even if it's for a limited period.
3) Xbox One: Uh...the disc's on the left of the case?
Pre-order bonus:
1) GameStop: It's Red Hood. Just...Red Hood.
2) Amazon: Guaranteed decent delivery and First Appearance Batman skin.
3) Wal-Mart: Prototype Batmobile skin.
4) Best Buy: WayneTech Booster Pack with early upgrades. Whoopee.

And...exit stage right. Thanks for reading this pretty fly singular try at the blog guy buy guide. I'll see you soon, and you may expect to see more Batman content in the future. Bye!

17: Top Ten Best: Arrested Development Quotes & Gags

Recently, I've been spending my spare time digging into what on Netflix's instant streaming service (now available for $209.97 a month), with Psych and Chuck coming off as fair highlights.

Truly, though, my best discovery is Arrested Development.

Due to information gathering online, I've learned that Arrested Development first started airing back in my younger years in the early 2000's, eventually growing a small but dedicated fanbase throughout it's three seasons. However, no matter how hard it tried, word of the show's brilliance didn't get out there and it closed off at the end of a season five-nine episodes shorter than its brothers. And that was the end of it, the final episode ending with a "on the epilouge" rather than the customary "on the next episode." No other network picked up the series, and plans for a movie fell through.

Until 2013, that is. Netflix, FOX, and Imagine made a deal to put together a reunion season that brought back the main cast. Each episode focused on a select character, allowing the busy stars to work on other projects simultaneously, and fifteen new half-hours or so began again with the story of the Bluth family.

And though not by much, Arrested Development's fanbase slowly widened, eventually long enough for ideas for another season or a movie to develop once again. And, thanks to the recent announcement of Season 5, it's perfect timing to release myself an Arrested Development top ten list. And what else could it be for, than the top quotes & gags from the show that packs over a hundred jokes into a 22-37 minute episode.

Enjoy guys.
It's Arrested Development.

10. "I don't know what I expected."
Prime character: Michael Bluth
Why?: Michael, though being the center in most of the advertisements and snapshots for Arrested Development, is, I think, probably the only character in the ensemble that couldn't quite maintain many laughs on his own. Michael's deadpan and mortified reactions to his awful family are what truly make him, and, simple as this one is, it's a perfect quote for the man that had to keep the Bluth family together.

9. "Illusions. A trick is something a whore does for money...[looks at children]...or candy."
Prime character: G.O.B. Bluth
Why?: This line, coming from the very first episode of the series ["Pilot"], really shows how genius it was from the start, a trait which, miraculously, it has failed to lose so far. Not to mention it's part of our introduction to G.O.B., my favorite character from the show.

8. George-Michael's hopeless crush on Maeby
Best example: George-Michael's living with Maeby montage ["Top Banana"]
Prime character(s): George-Michael Bluth, Maeby Funke
Why?: George-Michael, though he didn't have many things to offer, was great with what he did have. Whether it was Maeby being clueless to his blatant crush, or Michael taking his confessons some other way, it was a great way to add depth and humor to an otherwise mostly straight character.

7. Ann Veal ("Her?")
Prime character(s): Ann Veal
Why?: Ann Veal is, hands-down, one of the show's best side characters, with everyone always wondering what the [beep] George-Michael sees in her, or getting too deep into her religious affairs with her family. I'm glad her storyline with G.O.B. gave her a bigger role during the later seasons.

6. And please refrain from discussing or engaging in any sort of inter-office [bleep]ing, or [bleep]ing, or finger-[bleep], or [bleep]sting or [bleep]ing, or even [bleep], even though so many people in this office are begging for it. And if anybody does anything with my sister Lindsay, I'll take off my pants, I'll shave my [bleep], and I'll personally [really long bleep]."
Prime character: Gob Bluth
Why?: From a hilariously dirty episode early in the second season of the show ["Afternoon Delight"], the sheer length of this warning speech from G.O.B., the worst boss in the history of the company, which is really saying something, made me break down in laughter. I must've rewatched it five or six times.

5. Franklin Delano Bluth
Prime character: Franklin Delano Bluth/G.O.B. Bluth
Why?: Introduced late in Season 2 ["Meet the Veals"], Franklin Delano Bluth never failed to bring something hilarious that Whitey wasn't ready to hear. Whether he was a prime suspect in a kidnapping affair, or singing about his many children he's never met, died white or not, I'd always let this little racy puppet into my club.

4. The family's impressions of chickens ("Cockaw-cockaw-cockaw!")
Prime character(s): G.O.B. Bluth, Lindsay Funke, George Bluth, Lucille Bluth
Variation: "Has anyone here actually ever seen a chicken?" (Michael Bluth)
Why?: Something each member of the family has to offer: a unique chicken dance, usually utilized to make fun of a poor, annoyed Michael. Their sheer difference from what a chicken sounds like, and ignorance towards this factoid, is always great.

3. "The Sound of Silence"
Prime character(s): G.O.B. Bluth, Tony Wonder
Why?: Perfectly utilized in the fourth season, this always manages to play when G.O.B. (or once, Tony Wonder) realizes how truly alone he is. Will Arnett's blank yet sorrowful expression he always puts on when the track begins just adds to the wonder.

2. "I've made a huge mistake."
Prime character: G.O.B. Bluth
Why?: Occassionally used by characters throughout the show, but usually G.O.B., the joke gets funnier the more times it's used. Everytime one of the Bluth family screws up, you just find yourself waiting for it.

Honorable Mentions:
1. "Steve Holt!" (Steve Holt)
2. The literal doctor (The literal doctor)
3. "No touching!" (George Bluth Sr., jail guard)
4. "And that's why you always leave a note!" (J. Walter Weatherman)
5. "This is a [insert high number of $] suit! Come on!" (G.O.B. Bluth)

1. Almost everything Tobias says being suggestive or awkward ("I'm afraid I just blue myself.")
Prime character: Tobias Funke
Why?: Whether he's wondering where the [BEEP] his hard-boiled eggs are, or proclaiming himself a proud "analrapist," Tobias Funke's genius misstatements are always a joy to hear, whether he understands them or not. Honestly, it's not surprising our never nude eventually ended up on "To Catch a Predator," and then, well, jail.

Whew, there we are. See you guys again, soon. If anyone wants more Arrested Development, make sure to comment down below and let me now.

Thanks.
That was Arrested Development.

16: Top Ten Best: Marvel Cinematic Universe Entries (& Top Ten Most: Anticipated)

"There are no strings on me."
*loud BAAAAAAHHHHH noise*
-- R.I.P.
Relatively Dimensional
notyourbusiness-2015

Whilst, yes, Batman is and always will be my favorite superhero of all time, I will admit that, overall, the Marvel universe does indeed have more interesting heroes (as in number of) than the DC one. That's why I'm pretty much excited for every entry that's been announced for the upcoming four years, and have decided to convey my excitement by writing you guys two different lists surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe: my favorite entries released so far, and the ones I'm most excited for.

Before I dive in, I'm not going to delve into much of the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as I imagine most of you people reading this have a pretty good idea of how it formed and the circumstances surrounding it. But if you don't, here's Wikipedia to save the day.
If you're looking for something a little more specific, you can look for a link on the page or search for something on the Wikipedia sidebar to the right of this post.

Booting...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOP TEN ENTRIES SO FAR:

10) "Thor" (2011)
Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins
What is it?: The first film in the Thor film franchise
Why: Whilst the Thor franchise is easily my least favorite in the Marvel universe, this first entry, with its classic fish out of water story, marvelous effects, and Loki, proved it could still do pretty good.

09) "Iron Man 3" (2013)
Starring: Robert Downey Jr, Gwenyth Paltrow, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley
What is it?: The third and final film in the Iron Man film franchise
Why: Hated for its portrayal of the Mandarin, I personally think this movie's really underrated. It's easily the deepest of the Iron Man movies, and the setpieces and characters are great as always.

08) "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014)
Starring: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Dave Baustia
What is it?: The first film in the Guardians of the Galaxy film franchise
Why: Whilst mildly overrated in my opinion, you can't deny this one's weird and colorful charm. The settings are sharp, the characters are lovable, the soundtrack is classic, and the action is plentiful.

07) "Marvel's Agent Carter: Season One" (2014)
Starring: Hayley Atwell, James D'Arcy, Enver Gjokaj, Dominic Cooper
What is it?: The ABC television minseries spin-off to the Captain America film franchise
Why: The only female-centric MCU property so far, it gives us both interesting stories about Howard Stark being framed for selling deadly weapons and feminism back in the 1940's (god, I love this era).

06) "Iron Man" (2008)
Starring: Robert Downey Jr, Gwenyth Paltrow, Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges
What is it?: The first film in the Iron Man film franchise
Why: The one that kick-started it all, introducing us to the billionaire playboy philanthropist we all love, alongside his metal suit for a kickass movie that succeeded in all the right places.

05) "Captain America: The First Avenger" (2011)
Starring: Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones
What is it?: The first film in the Captain America film franchise
Why: Like I said before, I love the 1940's era, and this film makes great use of it. Every character is wonderful, their humor, heart, and bravery helping give us the first truly amazing MCU movie.

04) "Marvel's The Avengers" (2012)
Starring: Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston
What is it?: The first film in the Marvel's Avengers film franchise
Why: All the fun you expect from seeing Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Hulk join forces for the very first time. Alongside that, you get typical humor-sprinkled Joss writing, a ton of bad-ass battle setpieces, and a reappearance of one of the best of the MCU villains.

03) "Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015)
Starring: Robert Downey Jr, James Spader, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olson
What is it? The second film in the Marvel's Avengers film franchise
Why: Ultron is my favorite villain in the Marvel universe. Definitely. While Loki is indeed one of the best, I couldn't even imagine anything better than James Spader's portrayal of Ultron. It's truly amazing. Wrap around that some of Marvel's funniest scenes, true danger and romance, and you have number two at number three.

02) "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (2014)
Starring: Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Redford, Samuel L. Jackson
What is it?: The second film in the Captain America film franchise
Why: The perfect balance of light and dark. It has the lovable characters and emotion of Daredevil. The big, explosive blockbuster action of the Avengers. And three characters who always get soem love in the MCU, Captain America, Black Widow, and Nick Fury. Add to that some truly big shocks, Falcon, and various exciting glimpses into the next phase of Marvel movies, and we have the best film in their cinematic universe.

Honorable Mention:
"All Hail the King" (2014)
Why: Easily the best of the One-Shots, this pleases everyone, giving us more Ben Kingsley as well as semi-apologizing for any...annoyances possibly caused in Iron Man 3.

Dishonorable Mention:
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." (2013--)
Why: So disappointing in every way. The characters are bland, the storylines are boring, and the only interest it can pull up isn't even original to the show itself. Lame.

01) "Marvel's Daredevil: Season One" (2015)
Starring: Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson
What is it?: The first season of the Netflix television series Marvel's Daredevil
Why: While Batman: The Animated Series and The Flash are probably my favorite superhero shows, there is little doubt in my mind that Marvel's Daredevil is the best. Gritty, realistic, and unrelenting, the mood and characters set in this world are probably some of the best we've seen in years, the twisted Wilson Fisk being a particular highlight. I dare you not to watch the penultimate episode and hold off on watching the season finale. Don't turn a blind eye. This is a fantastic show.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOP TEN ENTRIES TO COME:

10) "Guardians of the Galaxy 2"
What is it?: The second film in the Guardians of the Galaxy film franchise
Why: Guardians of the Galaxy was a hell of a lot of fun, and I'm excited to see what stops they can pull with this one, especially with Infinity War on the horizon.

09) "Marvel's Agent Carter: Season Two" (2015)
What is it?: The second series of the ABC television spin-off to the Captain America film franchise
Why: The show that brought Marvel into the television equation. It's going to be interesting to see what the writers do with Peggy in a new location, and I hope that partly involves the development of S.H.I.E.L.D! And Jarvis. Gotta have some Jarvis.

08) "Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones: Season One" (2016)
What is it?: The first and so far only season in the Netflix telvision series Marvel's AKA Jessica Jones
Why: I'm now extremely confident in Marvel and Netflix's partnership, and any female superhero property is always a good thing. David Tennant is also always a good thing. Technically, well, a bad thing in this one, since he's a villain, but him being a bad thing's a good thing.

07) "Marvel's The Defenders: Season One" (2017)
What is it?: The first and so far only season in the Netflix television series Marvel's The Defenders
Why: Mini nitty-gritty The Avengers! We've never seen what a dark superhero team-up show looks like, and I'm really hyped to see what they do. True, we know very little about it, but Charlie Cox and hope are things to believe in.

06) "Spider-Man [unconfirmed title]" (2017)
What is it?: The first and so far only film in Marvel's Spider-Man film franchise
Why: We desperately need another good Spider-Man film, after two crappy flicks and a mediocre one having occupied the slot since what I feel is a personally overrated movie, and I'm certain that Marvel and Drew Goddard can do a webhead well. Plus, we don't have to suffer through another origin.

05) "Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1&2" (2018-2019)
What is it?: The third and fourth films in the Marvel's Avengers film franchise
Why: The film epic that will overshadow all others in 2018 and 2019. Built up since 2008, I'm very hopeful that this one will not only be good, but truly expansive enough to warrant two full-length features, something very few movies nowadays do.

04) "Doctor Strange"
What is it?: The first and so far only film in the Doctor Strange film franchise
Why: The supernatural is something we've seen far too little of in the MCU so far, and Doctor Strange, though I know very little about him, seems like a great character to lead me in, especially considering he's being played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

03) "Ant-Man" (2015)
What is it?: The first and so far only film in the Ant-Man film franchise
Why: While a fair number of Marvel movies have been "light," this is the first true Marvel comedy to take place on Earth. And with Edgar Wright having played a part, my originally little anticipation has risen for this, especially considering I thought the trailer looked quite good.

02) "Marvel's Daredevil: Season Two" (2016)
What is it?: The second season of the Netflix television series Marvel's Daredevil
Why: More Daredevil! All I need to say.

Honorable Mention:
"Marvel's Iron Fist"
Why: A supernatural Marvel Netflix television series seems promising to me. I'm looking forward to giving this one a go.

01) "Captain America: Civil War" (2016)
What is it?: The third film in the Captain America film franchise
Why: Avengers 2.5. Captain America and Iron Man at war. Appearances by War Machine, Black Widow, Vision, Winter Soldier, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, and Spider-Man. Sorry Dawn of Justice, the summer of 2016 has been won.

And that's it.
Marvel has been pretty big in the business lately, releasing their second Avengers film, the first of their many Netflix series, and announcing the entire Phase 3 line-up, including a Spider-Man movie, so I'd thought I'd do a little something to celebrate! I'm excited to see how all these turn out.

Thanks, Relatively Dimensionals!
It was a Marvel working with you.

Unparticular highlight: "Sweeet, sweeet victory...."

And, now, because I have seven hours left alone (whoop), why not Spongeboard into The Numbers? Let's rank all present seasons, sailors.

The Numbers:
01) How did Season One do?
Episodes present: Seven
Total decency (out of 1276): +203
02) How did Season Two do?
Episodes present: Thirteen
Total decency (out of 1276): +369
03) How did Season Three do?
Episodes present: Sixteen
Total decency (out of 1276): +327
04) How did Season Four do?
Episodes present: Nine
Total decency (out of 1276): +218
05) How did Season Five do?
Episodes present: Two
Total decency (out of 1276): +43
06) How did Season Six do?
Episodes present: Zero
Total decency (out of 1276): +0
07) How did Season Seven do?
Episodes present: Zero
Total decency (out of 1276): +0
08) How did Season Eight do?
Episodes present: One
Total decency (out of 1276): +22
09) How did Season Nine do?
Episodes present: Zero
Total decency (out of 1276): +0
10) How did the movies do?
Movies present: Two
Total decency (out of 1276): +94

203 + 07 = 210
369 + 13 = 382
327 + 16 = 343
218 + 09 = 227
043 + 02 = 045
000 + 00 = 000
000 + 00 = 000
022 + 01 = 023
000 + 00 = 000
094 + 02 = 096

Therefore, in terms of the combined total points, the show ratings provided by the numbers are:
1) Season Two
2) Season Three
3) Season Four
4) Season One
5) The movies
6) Season Four
7) Season Eight
8) Seasons Six, Seven, and Nine

And, yeah. Pretty much. I may recieve some mental flak for ranking Season Four over Season One, but keep in mind, I'm the kind of fan who feels the show began to deteriorate somewhere around Season Five. And, while, true, there were more bad episodes in Four than One, overall, I like the good episodes there more.

Now, for the bottom of the barrel.

Top 10 Dishonorable Mentions:
01) "I'm with Stupid" (Season Two)
02) "All That Glitters" (Season Four)
03) "Atlantis SquarePantis" (Season Five)
04) "Gone" (Season Six)
05) "Pet or Pests" (Season Six)
06) "A Pal for Gary" (Season Seven)
07) "Yours, Mine and Mine" (Season Seven)
08) "One Coarse Meal" (Season Seven)
09) "Demolition Doofus" (Season Eight)
10) "Little Yellow Book" (Season Nine)

WHOO.

Expect that Chuck top ten soon enough, and possibly some Marvel content due to...you know what.
